PROFESSIONAL OR BASIC BEAT LICENSE

WHICH IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

The main difference between the two beat Licenses comes down the sound quality: Basic Licenses are MP3’s and Professional Licenses are WAV’s. Here’s a brief summary of differences between them

BASIC LICENSE

  • MP3 download sent automatically
  • Use for one project (mixtape, album, EP, etc)
  • Can you distribute up to 5,000 copies of your one project
  • No track-outs.

You should buy a Basic Beat License if:

  • You prefer the smaller file size
  • You have a slow internet connection
  • You just want to listen to the beat and not rap to it
  • You are unsigned and don’t have a large fanbase yet

PRO LICENSE

  • HQ WAV file
  • USE for 4 projects
  • Distribute up to 14,000 copies
  • Comes with track-outs.

You should buy a Basic Beat License if:

  • You are recording a demo to send to labels
  • You do live shows/concerts
  • You’re recording an album or a mixtape
  • You have a fan base and want to provide them with high-quality music.

To make an MP3 (short for MPEG-2 Layer Audio III) file, I take the original HQ WAV file and compress it. which flattens some of the sounds and completely removes other sounds too. Once the files have been compressed you can’t convert it back to a WAV(it’s like crushing a soda can and trying to restore to it original shape afterwards, it will never be perfect again).

WAV FILES ARE HIGHER QUALITY AND THIS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE RECORDING PROCESS

Professional Beats are WAV files. WAV files are called “first generation” files because they are uncompressed; the beat I send to you is the raw file straight from my computer. These beat licenses also come with track-outs. With track-outs, your Engineer can sync your vocals with the beats so they sit in the mix instead of “on top” of it and make it sound much clearer and professional.

Also when you’re live on stage at a show the uncompressed, WAV file will sound better coming out the speakers than the compressed, flat mp3 would. I’ve been to enough talent shows to tell the difference.

If you’re shopping demos/recording albums then you should go with Professional Beat license to get the WAV file. Executives have heard thousands of demos before yours, trust me they can tell the difference between an HQ WAV and a compress mp3 song. That extra bit of quality makes them feel that you take your craft seriously.

If you’re just starting, MP3 beats licenses are better for you: You’re just started and you don’t want to blow money unnecessarily. You can
